What is Choghadiya?
The day (sunrise to sunset) and the night (sunset to next sunrise) are each divided into eight parts of about one and a half hours. Each part is called a choghadiya. Amrit, Shubh and Labh are best for auspicious work, Char is good for travel, while new work is avoided in Udveg, Kaal and Rog. Choghadiya is especially followed in Gujarat and Rajasthan for business, travel and shopping.
