What is Hora?

The day and the night are each divided into twelve parts, and each part is ruled by a planet – its hora. At sunrise the hora belongs to the lord of the weekday – the Sun on Sunday, the Moon on Monday and so on. It is then followed in order by Venus, Mercury, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and again the Sun. Work related to a planet is considered auspicious in that planet’s hora.

Timings are astronomically calculated for Chandigarh (IST). Please confirm exact vrat and festival muhurat with your priest.
