About Janaki Mandir
Janaki Mandir is the birthplace shrine of Goddess Sita, daughter of King Janak of Mithila. The white marble palace-temple in Hindu–Rajput style was built in 1910 by Queen Vrisha Bhanu of Tikamgarh and is also called "Nau Lakha Mandir" after its construction cost.
Vivah Panchami, the wedding anniversary of Sita and Rama, and Ram Navami are celebrated here on a grand scale. The Ram–Sita Vivah Mandap stands next to the temple.
🚆 How to Reach Janaki Mandir
Janakpur has a domestic airport with flights from Kathmandu (about 25 minutes). From India, the Jaynagar (Bihar) – Janakpur railway crosses the border, and buses run from Sitamarhi and Darbhanga. The temple is in the centre of the town.
