About Naamkaran Muhurat
Naamkaran is the naming ceremony of a newborn, one of the sixteen Hindu sanskaras. It is traditionally held on the 11th or 12th day after birth, when no separate muhurat is needed; otherwise an auspicious date is chosen.
Gentle nakshatras like Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Hasta, Anuradha and Shravana and weekdays such as Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are preferred. The first letter of the name is often chosen from the baby's birth nakshatra.
